🌃 The Saint-Antoine / Ladhof district, a sector with a former agricultural and wine-growing vocation, the district was marked by the canal port inaugurated in 1864, the municipal factories built in 1868 but above all by the André Kiener, Schoewer-Hartmann spinning mills and Benkhard-Koehler. The extension is along the Neuf-Brisach road. A whole district is formed, where at the beginning of the century the Jean Macé school was built. The development of the Kiener factory, enlarged after a fire in 1886, strongly contributed to the increase in the population of this district. Subsequently, the City of Silk was built in 1926 by the architects Voelkel and Wolff. In 1928, the architect Gustave Umbdenstock built the workers' houses on rue Kuhlmann. From 1932 to 1934, other H.L.M. emerged along the road to Sélestat built by Eugène and Eugène-Jean Adelbrecht The Bonnes Gens housing estate was created after the war in 1960. Founded in 1926, the parish only laid the first stone of the church dedicated to Saint- Antoine only in 1938. It was consecrated in 1950. To the north, in 1958-1959, the agricultural sector gradually gave way to the industrial zone.
The so-called Ladhof district was an agricultural district until the beginning of the 20th century, crossed by the path that led from Colmar to the river port of Ladhof (mentioned as early as 1337). In 1805, the city transferred the municipal cemetery to this sector. The urbanization of the district intervenes only much later within the framework of the economic recovery after the 1st war. Priority was then given to housing In 1926, the architects Voelckel and Wolff built the 280 housing units of the Cité de la Soie, followed in 1928 by the workers' houses on rue Kuhlmann, designed by the architect Gustave Umbdenstock.
